Americans are not like Argentines who stage daily protests and marches and manifestations to celebrate, demand change or seek recognition. The USA instead defines itself and its political and civil society participation much more by donations. Donating to a cause.
Given how rare and uncommon these types of manifestations are, one of the few instances it occurs is for the death of Osama?? To celebrate an execution??
It seems horribly morbid and pains me. I completely appreciate the sense of relief and happiness for the victim's families and the population in general as we were all touched but the 9/11 attacks. However, it is one thing "a sigh of relief" and another to actively join together to chant and scream "USA USA USA." For me no death should be celebrated in such a way. I agree with the Pope.
And my grandma posted the execution video on my facebook. So morbid.
But at the same time I feel the jubilation has much to do with an assumption that killing the head kills the organization, which I don't truly believe that is or will be the case.
